I bought it in 2009 and kept it uponed in the original box in my study all this time. I could not use it at all. I bought a replacement a week ago (from the same batch number - the numbers on both bottles were the same) and it is fine. Have no idea what happened with the 1st bottle. I have vintage perfumes (Lancome Magie Noir) that I have 30 years or more in my posession without any issues.

Re: Can Perfume Go Bad?

i have perfume for 4 years and it has never changed it smells, now the fragrance smells strong and lasts longer than before. i think the the fragrance has mattured, and answer this question. if your a fragrance lover and spend alot n fragrance, why would you want the fragrance to go off. to me its a myth or you just bought the fakey

Re: Keiko Mecheri: Niche Perfumery

thanks for sharing this article.i liked it very much as i found it very rich in information.it will help me a lot in my work for sure.

Re: Can Perfume Go Bad?

there is some of these which stinks.its awkward to try them.so be careful about purchasing perfumes.

Re: Can Perfume Go Bad?

Thanks for this informative post.

Re: Can Perfume Go Bad?

Well written post.I appreciate your writing skills. Its
great. You have made really a great job by sharing this post with us.I like this
& would like to read your more updates.Keep in touch with us in
future too.

Re: Can Perfume Go Bad?

Natural oil perfume is considered to be good for the fact that all the ingredients are fresh extracted and no wonder lot of people will rely on it because it much more cheaper than essential oils. I suppose that would be one of my happy memory smells. I also like the smells created by thunderstorms on Nantucket in the off-season. Has anyone created that scent yet?

Re: Fragrance According to Etro

Dear Paula, My pseudonym has aslight alteration to the name by which you know me. I am so grateful to you and Naz for several recs, including Dianthus, 2 Montale and 2 Parumerie Generale. I had told you that I generally like unisex scents, nothing sweet, and florals, chypre or 4711! I have come to agree with you about Andy Tauer's Rose chypre--a no go for me. To my surprise, my sister nnabbed my sample of carillon et ange and will not be parting from it. You will be hearing from me when I order a bottle for her birthday. It smells terrific on her, and once again does zip for me. I also told you I like Killian's Back to Black, and though I have tried a number of Keiko Meicheri's scents, I find that once out of the bottle they immediately begin to dissipate. I don't know if this re-cap jogs your memory, but two scents you suggested sounded VERY interesting, but you gave a descriptive rather than an actual name. One was a dark rose, i believe from Montale. The other was an aoud, probably from Montale, but which of the dozens could it have been? I love this website. I am with you 100% on the perfumes of the rich and famous. I know the amount of time needed to develop a scent depends on circumstance and the nose involved. But I really question the quality of the scent some of the actresses and singers put out--- eight perfumes in two years? They cannot have more money on hand than the "serious" perfume houses have for R+D. I have to assume it is the backing of huge makeup conglomerates--they certainly have learned how to appeal to the consumer, and keep them buying and buying and buying whether they really want or need the new products. You have me intrigued with Etro's belief in synaesthesia. I shall be heading to their website to follow up. Thanks, Alexandra B.

Re: Frustrations of a Mutinous Perfumer

It's so sad that most people have never even heard about people like Andy Tauer and Pierre Guillaume. I guess they think celebrity perfumes are good because those are the perfumes they see in the shops and read about in the magazines. And they're not used to different or challenging perfumes. Most of my friends think I'm crazy for spending money on "weird perfumes" online...

I love your list of superstars!

Marte

Re: Launching a New Perfume

Wow, that was such an interesting article on the process of a perfume evolving from concept to shelf.
